Campaign to Stop Coal Financing in Europe

Coal is the single largest source of global CO2 emissions. Creative Commons: 2011.

This project supports Goldman Prize winner Heffa Schucking in a campaign targeting Europe’s top ten financiers to “stop bankrolling climate change” by focusing on institutional customers of these banks, such as foundations, churches, and businesses.

Coal is the single largest source of global CO2 emissions and yet banks continue to finance the coal sector, undermining global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Following on the heels of significant momentum in the “Divest / Invest” movement and leading into this years UN Climate Summit in Paris, Heffa Schuking is focused on getting Europe’s top ten coal financiers to divest from coal completely.

Through collaborative partnerships, we support innovative projects that protect vulnerable wildlife from extinction, while restoring balance to threatened ecosystems and communities. Our work is divided into six main program areas – Wildlands Conservation, Oceans Conservation, Climate Change, Indigenous Rights, Transforming California, and Innovative Solutions.
